A beautiful temple, we were somewhat surprised when someone stop us to tell us we needed to pay (we didn't even know there was a temple), we paid our entrance fee thinking it was just to see the old wooden art but there is a really nice and quiet garden in the back, we stayed here longer than we expected just because it was so relaxing, and during the time we were here there wasn't really anyone else.
The best place that you can time travel ! Lots of old style shops. I enjoyed old snack store so much. There were more Japanese then foreigner travelers. I think they should come here too!
Temple with gorgeous wood carvings and a large shaped pine tree.
A beautiful temple with amazing wood carvings. The walk around the temple is like going back in time. There are also many shops in the street leading to the temple. We ate at the unagi shop just outside the entry gate. It was very good.
Very calm and relaxing temple. Inlove of how you can spot lots of elderly people relax through painting in the area.
Fabulous area to visit!!! Intricate wood carvings were so beautiful! Very peaceful setting. Marvelous architecture to enjoy. If you remove your shoes and toss a coin into donation box you may follow your Japanese friends in their prayer ritual.
Good beautiful and quite place to go in partcular if you like japanise green tea.
Traditional typical old time Japanese shopping street, and a beautiful temple
A very beautiful spot to experience Edo atmosphere. Cute shops and a really beautiful temple worth visiting
Beautiful... all i can say, worth a vist!
It is a peaceful place to get away from the insanity of the city. For 400 yen, the gardens and wooden carvings can also be viewed. To enter the temple, shoes must be removed and set aside. Even on a rainy day, the temple paths are covered so your feet will remain dry.
Leading towards Taishakuten Shrine, is a street lined up with shops. This is “The Approach to Taishkakutenâ€. A very beautiful street with old charm. The shrine itself is also very majestic, nice place to start a calm and peaceful morning.
nice japanese building
It s a lovely temple in a lovely ancient quarter. Enjoy your visit discovering the Japanese garden and the Buddha ‘s area
Nice temple and traditional shopping street. For when you want the feel of Asakusa, without the noise and people of Asakusa.
Love this place, great garden, amazing wood carvings. English help is available for tourists. Don't miss the lovely old street with shops... A kind of mini Kyoto. Very "natsukashi" even though I didn't grow up in Japan it reminds me of a byegone age.
Far from Tokyo but nice esp if you are a torasan fan
Fantastic place to go and see wonderful experience
Very good place, quiete and traditional Japanese, very nice temple and garden
A really beautiful and peaceful place. I really liked the carvings.
Nice well preserved area. Typical Japanese architecture.
Beautiful carved wooden temple at the end of a pleasant shopping street. Access to the garden and rear portion of the temple hall cost an additional ¥400 but it is well worth it for the close up views of the carvings and a lovely temple garden.
Beautiful carvings in the gallery behind the temple! ðŸ˜Famous for being the location of popular Japanese movie Otoko wa Tsurai yo.
Famous temple, made even more famous due to a popular TV drama series. You can see several bronze statues near the entrance to the train station . The temple itself is very pretty, it's traditional so not a lot of decoration. If you visit during new year, then expect huge crowds, which can get unpleasant. There's plenty of shops selling snacks and gifts along the way, recommended.
Amazing historic place in the suburb of Tokyo , not overcrowded by tourists. Worth to go on Sunday, around noon when religious celebrations at going on -kids in traditional customs. Definitely better, the overcrowded Asakusa. Sky tree is not far from her.
You can feel old culture and atmosphere of Tokyo
Very old temple. Worth visiting once.
Lovely temple. Off from the usual foreign tourist spot. Beautiful garden. Right by the Edogawa river.
Small temple but definitely a nice escape from the city!
